P1999 Easy Way to Raise Knights of Truth Faction

  1. So for the first time I tried an evil race - a Troll .
Most annoying is , as expected, the difficulty to cross FP so I try to get a better faction .
There is the "evil" variant of the Orc Belt quest but even for that I am KOS .

What should a level 8 Troll do in order to not be KOS to Captain Hazram and start to be able to do the Belt quest ?

  2. Kill orcs, maybe you can do this quest, http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=262

At level 8 though you probably just need to resign yourself to the fact that an evil race is going to be hated in parts of the world. At higher levels there are a number of different npcs you can kill to more easily raise this faction.

  3. As a Troll the only factions you would be Dubious or better would be the Rogues guild and I believe the Innoruuk Followers.

Kill Orcs in Commonlands to raise Mith Marr Paladins/Clerics and Monks (also the merchants in Commonlands)

Then you move on to HighPass Orcs (or Gnolls) to raise up your HIghpass Guards (and merchants) so you can do the Scalp quests.

Turning in those Orc Scalps (which you can get from Crushbone, Commonlands, and HighPass) or Gnoll Scalps (High Pass) for raising Freeport Guard.

By then you would only be KoS to Bards (Avoidable), Warriors (Avoidable), Erolisi Marr Paladins/Clerics (Avoidable - But they wander)

  4. You can still turn in the belts to the evil turn in guy even if he scowls to attack or is threateningly and he doesn't attack.
  5. The main way I have seen Ogre and Troll players get their faction high enough to walk through Freeport (at least most parts of the city) is by killing tons of orcs in the Commonlands. I have no idea how many you have to kill, but it is able to be done.
  6. Honestly at lvl 8 I wouldn't be worried about your FP faction.. just stay away from the guards.. Once you get higher lvl or you get a DE mask things will be easier to get faction with the town... With a DE mask you'll become dub to the Militia guards which will allow you to do the belt turn ins easily for Militia faction.. Then if you want super easy Paladin faction... Make Trumpy Tonics and turn them into the dwarf in that bar in Efp.. You might have to pull him out and take him to a ZL because there are mobs in there that will be KOS to you but 1 trumpy tonic is 10 faction to the Paladins and they stack so you'll only need 4 or 5 stacks to become non-kos to the Paladins and on the plus side it gives merchant faction also so you can use the merchants in freeport if you ever want to do tradeskills
  7. I'm sort of a faction junkie. I have several humans and halflings that bank in Oggok. I logged in with an Ogre character that it had been so long since I ran them, I had to double check they were still good to go. What people are saying about the time and trouble is no exaggeration. For instance,a reasonable path to follow would be to kill Orcs in Common Lands until you are a high enough level to move to Highpass. In Highpass kill Orcs or Gnolls and collect scalps. You may have to kill several hundred to get to the point where the guards won't go KoS before you can turn the scalps in. Most of the other stuff can fixed with levels, for example if you are high enough of a level the turn in NPC may not attack you on several different quests.

It is really a time and pp sink. I have my Ogre good to go in most of Qeynos, Rivervale, and most vendors outside of cities. One thing that helps is a friend that can cast invisibility on you to do turn ins. Some of the turn ins may hose you with your own race. Some annoying NPCs will always be placed in places you want to go. For instance there is a Bard at the entrance to High Hold Keep who will attack you even after the guard faction is increased. Even this can be fixed if you are a Shaman with the invisibility spell.

  8. Are you sure about that ?
Because I went there invis and when I tried to hand him a belt he simply killed me .
  9. Yeah, it's been a while, but I have done it before.

It's possible I'm thinking of P99 instead, if that's the case then I apologize. It's been quite a while since I played on P99, so maybe that's where I did it.

A post on allas says you can use share wolf form to turn them in, but that post is from back in 2001, so not sure if it still works. And that spell is a level 35 druid spelI.

I'm also reading on allas that at some point they upped his level and moved him, the quest turn in guy Captain Hazran. So you probably could turn them in with bad faction at some point on live as well but they eventually fixed it.

  10. The expacs unlocks are on a three months timer on your server, right ? Soon, you won't worry anymore about your FP faction...

  11. From what I've read, illusions don't change faction anymore. I think.
  12. OK, thanks .
So if I understand well, the only way is to kill a megaton of orcs in CL and perhaps later in HH .
If only somebody knew how many approximately to go from threatening to dubious .
  13. race illusions do but back in probably 2004?2005? the devs broke wolf form where it doesn't give you a bonus anymore.. Boy was that a shock back then since I played a druid and always ran around in wolf form and suddenly guards were attacking me.. lol

  14. If your faction is threatening it means it is somewhere between -750 < x < -501 where x is your faction. Dubious is -500 < x < -101. I believe you get 1 faction for killing an orc, so you will have to kill somewhere between 1 - 250 orcs.
  15. Here's a combination of a few old posts that I copied/pasted into one place during research into how to run around the main cities safely, and use vendors in Freeport, as a Dark Elf and Iksar in Phinny. Not 100% sure if it's all completely relevant today but it's a good starting point. I can say that after following the Freeport sections to max faction I was able to run freely through and vendor in the main areas. However, I avoided the paladin/warrior areas in the north as some of them are are different faction.

    OLD WORLD
HALAS: The home of the barbarians, to get good faction with these residents you first need to get stacks upon stacks of gnoll fangs, then you need to get wolf formed by a druid, then you need to head over to Lysbith McNaff and turn those fangs into her unstacked. This will raise your faction with all three Halas factions as well as the Steel Warriors (the Human Warrior guild, not the guards).http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=225 However you will not be able to bank by just turning in gnoll fangs, once you become Non-KOS inside Halas you will want to farm mammoth calf hides and turn them in four at a time to Cappi Mctarnigal (the banker) who is on the rogue faction.http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=980
QEYNOS: All you need to do in order to get inside Qeynos is to kill thousands of gnolls, for the dark races you should just stick clear of the Temple of Life and you should be fine, provided you have upped your faction with the corrupt guards via the Message to Rebby/Janem quest.
    http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=612
FREEPORT: Kill many orcs at the Deathfist orc camps spread throughout the Commonlands. To supplement this faction gain you can also turn your belts into either Cain Darkmoore (if your a good character) or to Captain Hazran (if your evil). Also you can do the note to Rebby/Janem quest as well.
Ok, here's how I did it. It's slow and tedious, but it works. I warn you, this will only fix your Freeport factions, and it will eventually destroy your Mistmoore and Ring of Scale factions so if you want to keep those, don't mind me, and read no further. If you care not, here's the way... Get a few bags of DF belts, and turn them in to Hazran in the militia house. This will make you rapidly indifferent to the EFP and WFP guards. It will also make you KoS to the NFP guards. Now the NFP guards are the Knights of Truth... so you grab about 200pp, stop at your nearest friendly bank, and turn it into gold pieces. Then you go to EFP, to the Grub and Grog tavern, which is right next to the building with the soulbinder, and hand Fabian all that gold... 2 pieces at a time. Yeah, it told you it was tedious... however Fabian will happily give you Knights of Truth faction as well as the League of Antonican Bards. You'll lose Mistmoore and Ring of Scale... but I never cared for either of those. As far as the merchants, do the Janam and Rebby quest 10-15 times, and they'll love you too. only 2 factions I have left to fix are the casters guild and the monks.
Rohand's Brandy - Three full bags (24 stacks) of Brandy will cost less than 40pp and likely raise your Coalition of Tradefolk faction to apprehensive, allowing access to Freeport merchants and bankers.
Four Stacks of Honey Mead to Trumpy Irontoe will offset all the negative faction hits from giving one stack of Brandy to Rohand.
You will be left with only positive hits left gaining 20 merchant faction per brandy turn in instead of 25 but without the negative hits.
I recommend starting with Trumpy then Rohand second to avoid going KoS to Trumpy by mistake then just cycle back and forth between the two until your merchant faction is maxxed.
OGGOK: This is a tricky one, the best I can suggest is to get your baking skill to about 50 and make pickled frogloks, when you have many stacks of these get wolf formed and head into Oggok, go turn these unstacked along with 10 GP to Chef Dooga. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=290
GROBB: First in order to become non KOS to the guards you must collect many fire beetle eyes, get wolf formed and then go speak to Basher Nanrum in Grobb. *Need suggestions in order to become able to sell to merchants/unknown if the Wolf meat for Wista/Treskar line of quests is available in classic.*
KALADIM/KELETHIN: The way to gathering factions for both of these cities is very similar, the easiest method to slaughter many, many orcs in Crushbone and then go and turn their belts and shoulder pads to Canloe Nusbac ( http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=631 ) *note you will lose craknek warrior (ogre warrior) faction by turning in belts and shoulder pads. Also by killing Crushbone Orcs you lose a miniscule amount of faction per kill with the Indigo Brotherhood (Dark Elf Guards/Warrior Guild.) Also you may kill several Dwarven rogues/renegades throughout BB to gain faction with the dwarves.
FELWITHE: Not sure about this one, but in theory you could get wolf form and hand in hundreds of bone chips to Yeolarn Bronzeleaf in order to become non-KOS in Felwithe, but unless you have a quest dealing with Felwithe you are much better off just getting in good with the Wood Elves.http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=91
NERIAK: In order to become Non-KOS to the guards you can opt to kill many Elven slaves inside Crushbone at the penalty of destroying your Elven faction; you may also kill the leatherfoot raiders in the Nektulos forest at the penalty of ruining your Halfling faction. Once you are free to walk inside Neriak head over to Lokar To'Biath in the Neriak Commons Library and hand him many red wines in order to be able to bank in Neriak. *NOTE* It is unknown if you can just get wolfform and head into the commons and just hand in the red wine to Lokar. Quest is herehttp://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=159 Max wine
RIVERVALE: Relatively easy, just slaughter the goblins throughout the Misty Thicket and Runneye. Also with the warbeads you collect off their cold, dead bodies you can hand them into Sheriff Roglio four at a time in order to gain faction with every faction within Rivervale. There are also several messenger missions within Rivervale you can do to raise faction with the Halflings. You can also turn in bandages to Joogl Honeybugger, you can do this quest even as KOS without sneak or wolf form by handing in the bandages through the window of Honeybugger's house.http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=59
Bandage Quest: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=657 Max bandages ally
SUREFALL GLADE: Until the Jaggedpine forest is opened you will be SOL here if you start off KOS or if you slaughter the animals of Qeynos Hills. In order to raise faction here, you need to slaughter the gnolls of BlackBurrow, however to raise your faction with the rangers guild, you need to wait until the opening of the JaggedPine forest and then kill the Darkpaw gnolls inside the forest.
AKANON: First in order to become non KOS to the guards you need to slaughter the Minotaur Slavers in the Steamfont Mountains, save those horns they drop and hand them over to Larkan in the Akanon Library. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=800 *note* you will take a faction hit with The Dead (DE Necro guild) and the evil gnomes by doing the minotaur horn quest.
Easy way to up your faction with Merchants of AkAnon !!! Go to Geoard BlueHawk in Bluehawks in Erudin at -1176, -330, +51.63. He sells Vasty Deep Ale .
Buy a bottle (several stacks of 20 I would suggest) and give them 4 at a time unstacked to Shondo Billin Loc +603, +814, -31.12 (in Erudin Palace )
Your faction standing with GemChoppers got better.
Your faction standing with MerchantsofAkAnon got better.
Your faction standing with KingAkAnon got better.
Your faction standing with DarkReflection got WORSE.
Your faction standing with Clan Grikbar got WORSE.
    You gain experience!!

ERUDIN/PAINEEL: In order to gain access to these cities you need to slaughter the kobolds in The Warrens, save the teeth they have and if you want to become non KOS with Paineel hand them over to Royal Guard Lilkus. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/ques ... quest=1237 If you want to get faction with Erudin hand the molars into Tiam Khonsir. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/ques ... quest=1243 *note* Doing the kobold molar quest will ruin your faction with the opposing faction.
    KUNARK
CABILIS: First in order to become non-KOS to the guards, head over to Warsliks Woods and enter the Iksar outlaw caves, and by slaying them you gain Iksar guard/warrior faction as well as the only way to increase your Iksar Necromancer faction without doing a quest. You could also slay the goblins (which also increases Firiona Vie faction) or the Sarnak scattered throughout Kunark. Once you become Non-KOS to the guards of Cabilis, head over to the field of bone carrying many stacks of bone chips and hand them into Trooper Mozo four at a time, however be careful to stay at the MAXIMUM range away from the other pathing crusaders as they WILL BE KOS to you if you have just been slaughtering goblins/sarnaks/iksar outlaws. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=260

FIRIONA VIE: If you start off KOS to Firiona Vie you should spend your time killing hordes of goblins in Warsliks Woods. If you want to have both Iksar and FV faction DO NOT DO ANY FV QUESTS UNLESS YOU KNOW IT DOESN'T LOWER LEGION OF CABILIS! *note* some of the NPCs by the docks are on the Emerald Warriors (WE Warrior/Guard faction) more than they are on the FV faction.
*TIP* If you are aiming for both Cabilis and FV faction and you have a high level character, you can set up a loop of destruction in Warslicks Woods. You can start at any point, but since I will becoming from the Overthere I will list where I will start. First I will clear out the house with the Iksar Lord (LOC #9 on EQ ATLAS) then I will clear out any goblins/giants/iksar outlaws I see on my way to the goblin fort (LOC #1 on EQ ATLAS) after I have wiped that out, then I will travel to the Giant Fort (LOC # 12 on EQ ATLAS), when I have wiped that out I will go through the Iksar Outlaw tunnels and wipe them out and then travel through the Giant Fort again and then back to the Iksar Lord house, rinse and repeat for best results.
    WW Map http://www.eqatlas.com/kunark/warslikswoodsmap.html
WW Iksar Outlaw caves map http://www.eqatlas.com/kunark/warwoodstunnelsmap.html
THE OVERTHERE OUTPOST: The only way to improve your faction with Venril Sathir (the outpost faction as well as Karnor Castle faction) you must go into the Skyfire mountains or Veeshan's Peak and kill any of the mobs inside those zones. If you are non KOS or you can get wolf formed you can slaughter Sarnak Berserkers and loot their War Braids and hand them in four at a time to Captain RottGrime.http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=5
CHARDOK: To become non KOS with the Sarnak you must first slaughter the goblins throught the Frontier Mountains as well as the goblins inside the Temple of Droga and the Mines of Nurga, any other goblins throughout Kunark will not work as they are a different tribe of Goblin. To supplement this slaughter you are able to hand in Green goblin skins one at a time and Mount Death Salts two at a time to Heeald Telcha. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/ques ... quest=1887
GENERAL TIPS: If you start KOS to a faction you can get wolf formed which will wipe out your FACTION trouble but not your DIETY trouble. Because Norrathians wear their religions on their sleeves other Norrathians know what god you follow and they base their actions also on that, so some cities will remain KOS even with max faction. Wolf form and sneak coupled with invisibility are often interchangeable. If you can get behind an NPC while invised and then turn on sneak, you will become indifferent as long as you are behind said NPC. Also if you are non KOS with a NPC, but you aren't able to turn in items for questing, grab a caster buddy and tell him to invis you once you have the trade window opened, this will make you indifferent also.
*Velious cities to come out at a later date.*

  16. That long @$$ post only to mention wolf form in alot of it and you can't use wolf form anymore unless they fixed that wolf form nerf...

  17. You also used to be able to run around Unrest in wolf form and not get attacked.
  18. Get a Guise of the Deceiver before they stop dropping. Dark Elves have better FP faction.
  19. Wolf form not only does nothing in Oggok anymore, you are also not KoS in Halas in wolf form which is a small improvement! Halas faction is not important IMHO. Occasional Barbarian, they are like Bards, in every bar in the world, will still attack. There are also some oddball NPCs like a Peasant<?> woman that attacks in FP, two NPCs that attack if you follow a dark religion in South Qeynos, two 'Wolves of the North' NPCs in a bar by the docks in FP, et cetera.

The 250 number that Agent figured is not that hard to hit. Figure you need ~25 kills per level solo and close to 5 times that in a group. You get faction for every group kill! By the time you are level 10, you will have enough kills to pass the guards and lots of CL residents. I'm not sure but you could probably bank in Neriak for those first few levels. Faction is also independent of experience so you can group with others just looking for faction i.e. a level 40+ Troll/Ogre/Dark Elf.

When/if guise potions will come in play, they are expensive so you have to have all your ducks in a row before you use them. Some NPCs like guild masters can still see through illusions but I have found they won't necessarily attack even at threatening. It just means you can't do the low level faction quests with them. You will probably be long gone from the need by then.

  20. It's about 200ish points from scowling/threatening threshold to threatening/dubious threshold. How do I know? I up on Ragefire and took a -1000 faction hit from killing Lucan and my paladin was of Mith Marr. I had to buy/farm a lot of orc scalps to turn into HPH guards to get the faction back to dubious. Do you know A Militia Enforcer that's part of the Rogue 1.5 or 2.0 Epic spawns right at the front gate of Freeport and quads for 52,000 damage? Ask me how I know.
